Memfault ships a read-only MCP server for fleet crashes, traces and device vitals

Memfault released an MCP server with 12 read-only tools covering devices, issues, metrics and software versions. In the launch post, Claude Code finds the day's worst new crash, matches its stack trace to the checked-out firmware and drafts a fix. A GitHub MCP server opens the pull request. Memfault says the tools cannot change devices or trigger OTA updates.

Briefing

The tools fall into 4 groups: devices, issues and traces, metrics, and software versions. Besides OTA, the server cannot close issues, change cohorts or modify any other state. Clients sign in with OAuth 2.0 and PKCE.

Jesse Dukes's launch post, dated 28 May 2026, says the crash-to-pull-request workflow works best for straightforward bugs. The server works only on data Memfault has already collected from a fleet and has no direct link to a board. It is available on every Memfault plan, including the free Developer plan.
