Open-source toolkit for agent-driven RHEED during thin-film growth

Asraful Haque and colleagues released an open-source toolkit for agent-driven RHEED (reflection high-energy electron diffraction) on a pulsed laser deposition system. It adds programmable electron-optics control, automatic beam alignment and rocking-curve capture, with analysis served over MCP. The paper describes a demo driven by natural-language requests. We found no code link.

Briefing

A training-free method aligns the crystallographic azimuth, and a separate application extracts structural and growth observables. The functions are exposed three ways: a GUI, a programmatic interface and the MCP server.

An adapter interface takes analysis and simulation methods from the community, with Markdown guides written for AI coding agents. The paper runs 30 pages and was submitted to arXiv on 14 September 2026. Its authors are Asraful Haque, Christopher M. Rouleau, Rama K. Vasudevan and Sumner B. Harris.
