Synacl: program an ESP32 by asking Claude to write a macro that runs on the board

Synacl's 2.5-minute video shows claude.ai writing a macro that runs on an ESP32 flashed with Synacl's gateway firmware. Claude connects through a custom MCP connector, creates a GPIO device and writes a 5-step macro. Its first run is refused until a person grants 2 permissions; then the board's GPIO 2 LED blinks. Synacl made the demo for its own product.

Briefing

Setup happens in the browser. Chrome or Edge flashes the gateway firmware over Web Serial, and the Wi-Fi credentials go over the same USB cable. The two permissions are separate: "Run macros" applies to the connection, and each macro has its own box for AI-agent runs that only a person can tick.

The linked guide extends the demo with a BH1750 light sensor, and the macro then pulses only below 20 lux. Synacl says the system is not safety-rated and that abort messages cannot reach a gateway that is offline.
