VibePulse: an ESP32-S3 desk screen that shows agent activity and answers prompts with a tap

Niclas Vestlund's VibePulse shows Claude Code and Codex usage and agent activity on a Waveshare ESP32-S3 AMOLED panel. A full-screen alert appears when an agent waits for input, and a tap answers supported prompts. A Python service runs on macOS or Windows; cloud relays are off by default. The README links a YouTube Short of the panels on his desk.

Briefing

A stdlib Python service on the computer reads Claude Code and Codex session logs and rate-limit headers and serves plain numbers on port 8737. The panel polls it every 30 seconds over the LAN and receives only percentages, counts and coarse status; the OAuth token stays on the computer. A three-second button hold opens a settings menu on the panel for firmware updates and Wi-Fi.

Tap-to-answer needs the opt-in Needs You bridge and an awake computer. APPROVE commits only the option the agent itself marked as recommended, and an unanswered prompt falls back to the terminal. Codex shows ALLOW ONCE only for its narrow safe-command tier. Each panel needs its own build profile, and the README says touch alignment on the round 1.75-inch unit still awaits review.
