Clawdmeter: an ESP32 desk display for Claude Code usage and alerts

Clawdmeter shows Claude Code session and weekly usage limits on an ESP32 display board, where a Clawd character reacts to prompts. Through Claude Code hooks it flags sessions waiting for input. It pairs over Bluetooth, and its buttons send key presses. The README lists 8 supported boards and 15 community ports. A photo shows two devices running.

Briefing

The desktop app for macOS, Windows and Linux flashes the firmware over a USB data cable, then talks to the board over Bluetooth. The board pairs as a keyboard because its buttons send key presses; on the M5Stack FIRE, for example, they send Space and Shift+Tab. Hooks are optional: the usage meters work without them, and the hooks add Clawd's reactions and the alert when a session needs an answer.

Development and testing happen first on the Waveshare ESP32-S3-Touch-AMOLED-2.16. Boards without PSRAM, such as the ESP32-C6 version, get a smaller animation. The README warns that the project uses Anthropic's proprietary fonts without permission and the copyrighted Clawd mascot, and the author does not put the code under a copyleft license. TechCrunch covered it on 14 May.
