devpsu: bench power supply control for agents, with human-set limits

Jacob Beningo's devpsu sets voltage and current, switches the output and power-cycles a board from a CLI or MCP server. It supports three B&K Precision 168xB models and Manson HCS-3xxx supplies. Session limits come from the user through an MCP prompt; environment ceilings refuse anything higher. The README says it was built against a 1687B.

Briefing

On the first supply-changing MCP call of a session, the user is asked for the maximum voltage and current, and agent requests above them need approval. Hosts without MCP elicitation refuse over-limit requests, and output_off is never gated. The supply's own OVP and OCP form a third layer, and the tool descriptions tell agents to check the DUT's ratings.

Supplies are picked by USB location, because identical supplies often ship USB bridges with the same serial number; each physical supply keeps its own limits. Auto-discovery sends a query to every USB serial port, so the README suggests pinning DEVPSU_PORT on benches with DUT consoles attached. The 1687B it was built against is a 36 V, 10 A supply. The tests run against a fake serial layer.
