WisentWire demo: a remote HIL rig flashes, powers and watches a sumo robot

TatraSpace demos WisentWire, its hardware-in-the-loop test rig, on a small sumo robot. In the 4-minute video the team reserves the rig, flashes firmware, sends commands over UART and logs power, then uploads faulty firmware and the robot hits the wall. The video drives everything from the GUI; TatraSpace says its MCP server reaches the same functions.

Briefing

In the demo the sumo robot is wired to WisentWire with a power supply, a programmer and GPIO inputs that detect whether it stops before the wall. The video description says the API and SDK reach the same functions as the GUI, for use from a terminal or a CI pipeline.

The MCP server is published on PyPI as wisent-wire-mcp, first released in April 2026. Its README lists tools for power and telemetry, GPIO, firmware flashing, UART, RS485 and CAN buses, GDB debug sessions, device registration and reservations. It signs in with a WisentWire API key or account and targets the hosted backend unless another URL is set. The video does not show an agent using it.
