edesto: teach coding agents to flash and test firmware

edesto init detects the connected board, serial port and toolchain, then writes a SKILLS.md file with compile and flash commands for a coding agent. The edesto serial commands read the board's output and send it commands, and three example projects carry planted bugs for the agent to find. We have not seen it run on a board.

Briefing

The generated file is written under four names, SKILLS.md, CLAUDE.md, .cursorrules and AGENTS.md, so different agents find it. It carries pin references for 17 boards, datasheet tips for STM32, ESP32 and nRF parts, and FreeRTOS or Zephyr notes when the project uses an RTOS. If edesto finds Saleae Logic 2 automation, OpenOCD or a SCPI scope through pyvisa, the file includes instructions for them.

The debug commands insert print statements or GPIO toggles into the source and remove them again with edesto debug clean. The firmware is expected to print markers such as [READY] and [ERROR] that the agent waits for. Boards on a JTAG probe flash through an OpenOCD command. Edesto, the company behind it, builds tools for robotics and embedded teams.
