KiCad MCP guide: Claude Code lays out an XL4015 buck converter in KiCad 10

JLCPCB's guide shows Claude Code designing a 5 A XL4015 buck converter in KiCad 10 through the kicad-mcp-pro server. Claude built a 16-net schematic and routed a 63 by 33 mm board with an A* router it wrote in Python. A netlist check caught an ISENSE to ISET short that ERC only warned about. The guide says nothing was fabricated.

Briefing

The author chose kicad-mcp-pro because it is read-only by default, and enabled its write profile for one sandbox folder under git. A datasheet review before the schematic found 4 problems, including VC tied to ground and a 78L05 rated below the 36 V input. The schematic came from one sch_build_circuit call, where overlapping labels created the ISENSE to ISET short.

The router worked on a 0.1 mm grid. The first DRC run found 7 copper-to-edge errors from a 0.35 mm clearance. The final DRC in KiCad 10.0.4 was clean.
