Konnect: a native KiCad 10 plugin that gives Claude 228 PCB design tools

Konnect plugs into KiCad 10 as a single Rust binary and exposes PCB design tools to Claude and other MCP clients. Its 228 tools in 21 on-demand toolsets cover schematic capture, placement, routing, ERC and DRC, JLCPCB part search and manufacturing export. It succeeds the author's KiCAD-MCP-Server and is marked beta, with Windows the most tested platform.

Briefing

Konnect edits PCBs through KiCad 10's IPC API (protobuf over NNG), so changes land in KiCad's own undo history. Schematics are edited as S-expressions with atomic writes, and exports and ERC/DRC go through kicad-cli. Autorouting exports a Specctra file to Freerouting and imports the result in one transaction. Listing all 228 tools costs about 23K tokens, so a router loads a starter kit of about 2K tokens and pulls in toolsets on demand.

Its predecessor sent each call through TypeScript, a Python subprocess and KiCad's SWIG bindings, which KiCad is deprecating. Konnect is AGPL-3.0, with commercial licenses for businesses. The macOS binaries are unsigned, and Linux builds pass CI but have not had per-platform QA. The README says 228 tools; the repo description says 217.
