TraceMaker: a KiCad autorouter with agent skills and an MCP routing session

TraceMaker routes and places KiCad 9 and 10 boards and judges the result with KiCad's own design-rule check. Two agent skills prepare a board and sign off a route, and an experimental session mode exposes the router over MCP. The README reports 72.5% of PCBench tier B boards routed with no added KiCad errors, against 50% for Freerouting.

Briefing

In a session the agent lists open connections, routes chosen nets with hints, rips a net, undoes and saves. Each route is a transaction: by default it is kept only if it adds no DRC error, and the call log replays to the same board bytes. The README says hints from a rule-based advisor measured no gain; a model's hints have not been measured.

Nigel Hungerford-Symes announced release 0.10.0 on X on 18 October; the repo is at 0.12.1. It builds on Linux, with an optional CUDA GPU and a contributed macOS Metal build. Windows needs WSL2 and is untested. Freerouting's scores in the comparison are its own published results on the same boards.
