Briefing
ERC, DRC and the export pipeline call KiCad's own engines. A fourth profile, expert or full, opens the complete catalog and is meant only for trusted clients. Live part sourcing uses JLCPCB's public catalog by default; Nexar, DigiKey and Mouser need API credentials. The README describes the signal-integrity, power-integrity, EMC and thermal tools as closed-form, first-order estimates, typically within about 5 to 10%, and no substitute for a field solver or EM simulation.
A linked JLCPCB blog post walks through an XL4015 buck converter designed with it; that board was not fabricated or bench-tested. The README is at version 4.3.0, under the MIT license.
