Tulip Tree Technology: an emulated STM32 for an AI agent to test firmware on

Tulip Tree Technology has an AI coding agent write a hello-world for an STM32F030 and run it on Emerson, the company's own hardware emulator. The 8-minute video uses emctl to check that the firmware ran correctly, not just that it compiled. It also covers what Emerson models and what it leaves out. No physical board appears.

Briefing

Before any code is written, the video takes on the usual worry about emulators, an unmodeled peripheral quirk. Tulip Tree says Emerson is built to fail loudly on behavior it does not model rather than drift quietly from the real chip. emctl then checks the agent's firmware on the emulated hardware with no debugger and no flashing step.

This is a vendor demo of its own product, and the description does not name the agent. It says Emerson has also booted Linux to a login prompt, run FreeRTOS across split flash regions and driven battery-charger and fuel-gauge chips through their I2C register maps. Those runs are promised for later episodes.
