AI Desk Card: an agent skill that flashes and runs an M5Paper e-ink desk display

AI Desk Card, a skill for Claude Code and similar agents, sets up an M5Paper V1.1 e-ink panel as a desk display. The agent installs PlatformIO, flashes the font and firmware, starts a local daemon and sets up Wi-Fi. Widgets range from weather to a pull-request queue. The README has a photo of the panel on a desk.

Briefing

The agent first probes what is already installed, then installs PlatformIO with pipx. Flashing the CJK font and the firmware takes about a minute, the README says. The daemon listens on 127.0.0.1:9877, and the agent asks for the Wi-Fi password before it pushes the first widget. There are 16 widgets, among them pr-queue and ai-status.

The target is the 4.7-inch, 540 by 960 M5Paper V1.1. The M5Paper S3 needs porting, and the panel joins 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi only. Claude Code is the tested agent; the README lists Codex, Gemini CLI, Cursor and Aider as likely to work. The daemon is tested on macOS, and Windows needs WSL2. The README gives the license as GPL-3.0 with an attribution clause.
