hw-codesign: hardware brief to candidate KiCad board, with blockers listed

hw-codesign produces a candidate KiCad board, firmware and 3D assembly from a hardware brief, for 13 board families. Each run records gates as passed, failed or blocked. The README lists its RP2040 USB demo at 44 of 48 gates passed with clean ERC and DRC; the board has not been fabricated.

Briefing

Missing evidence or tools count as blocked, never as passed. In the published RP2040 demo, Freerouting reports no unrouted connections and KiCad's ERC and DRC are clean. Part sourcing fails, the native Zephyr build is blocked because the ARM toolchain lacks newlib runtime files, and a via-in-pad process is unqualified.

The tool runs as a CLI or an MCP server. Install is pip install hw-codesign[mcp] on Python 3.11 or newer, and the author documents a clean install in a Debian 13 container. The README calls its render a CAD preview, not a photo of hardware.

“The render is a candidate-level CAD preview, not a photo of fabricated or qualified hardware.”
