benchmux: flash and reset a board without stopping the serial monitor your agent reads

benchmux holds a board's USB serial or BLE link and logs its output to a file that agents and people can follow. Flash and reset commands release the port and reattach without stopping the monitor. It installs as a Claude Code skill. Aaron Perkins lists ESP32 as the only tested target, and the serial tool does not run on Windows.

Briefing

Because agents and people read the same logfile, an agent can flash a build and read the new boot log while a person watches the same stream. The flash command releases the port through SIGUSR1 and SIGUSR2, runs PlatformIO or any toolchain passed with --flash-cmd, then reattaches. The --port flag matches a /dev/serial/by-id substring such as FTDI, so an adapter keeps its name after replugging. The BLE proxy uses bleak, defaults to the Nordic UART Service and can flash over the air.

The serial reset assumes the ESP32's DTR and RTS auto-reset wiring. BLE OTA works only with firmware that implements the reference protocol in ble_proxy.py. On macOS the serial proxy mostly works but has no /dev/serial/by-id.
