Veecle surveys chip vendors' MCP servers: docs, builds and debug, but no virtual target

Daniel Frassinelli of Veecle reviewed first-party hardware MCP servers and found that seven chip and tooling vendors shipped them between October 2025 and August 2026. He found no official server from ST, Infineon or Renesas. He writes that none of the vendor servers runs firmware without a physical board; Veecle's own product, Chiplab, targets that gap.

Briefing

The seven vendors are Arm, Nordic, Analog Devices, Espressif, Microchip, Silicon Labs and TI. Frassinelli sorts their servers by what they do: three serve documentation only, three drive the toolchain, four reach live debug or capture, two serve fleet data and none runs firmware in simulation.

He writes that NXP put its MCP work into upstream Zephyr rather than a server of its own. He also names two projects often called MCP servers that are not, stm32-substrate and esp-agentic-dev. Chiplab, Veecle's product, is a hosted MCP server that runs firmware on virtual Cortex-M parts, and the post says so.

“The vendors shipped manuals and controls. What an agent needs is a target.”
